Browns GM Andrew Berry \u201cdeclined to speculate on if the Browns would fail\u201d to sign rookie RB Quinshon Judkins or \u201clet him go\u201d following a domestic battery charge earlier this month, according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland PLAIN DEALER. The second-round pick was \u201ccharged with misdemeanor domestic battery against his girlfriend\u201d on July 7 and is awaiting his first hearing. Browns DT Mike Hall Jr. last season was suspended five games by the NFL after a \u201cdomestic incident with his girlfriend.\u201d The Browns had him \u201con the field in training camp a day after the arrest,\u201d but he was under contract. The Browns have put Judkins\u2019 contract \u201con hold while they do their diligence.\u201d The Browns also have LB Devin Bush \u201cawaiting a pre-trial conference\u201d Aug. 15 on his \u201cdomestic violence incident involving his girlfriend\u201d in May (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 7\/24<\/a>).<\/p>\n

RISING TREND: In Akron, Nate Ulrich notes the Browns\u2019 three domestic violence-related arrests are \u201cmore than any other NFL team has had in the past year,\u201d per USA TODAY Sports\u2019 NFL player arrest database. Ulrich: \u201cIt would be irresponsible for the Browns to proceed without making changes.\u201d In addition to Judkins, Bush and Hall, former Browns DT and 2022 fourth-round choice Perrion Winfrey had a \u201cdomestic violence-related arrest\u201d in April 2023. Ulrich writes the Browns \u201cneed to audit how they research players.\u201d Ulrich: \u201cOne could argue it would be impossible for a team to forecast trouble with players who haven\u2019t been previously arrested, but these guys are investigated and psychologically tested, especially in the pre-draft process.
