Made several impressive, big-time throws.”

Ewers has shown a good attitude since being drafted by the Dolphins.

The QB said during rookie minicamp, “Just take advantage of every opportunity because there’s a lot of guys out there right now, and everyone’s fighting for the same job, and we’re all competitive, but it’s cool at the same time.

“At the end of the day, some of these guys are gonna end up being team-mates with us but you gotta earn the job and earn the trust of those guys as well.

“So it’s been cool.”

Ewers is emerging as a genuine contender to earn backup minutes to Tua Tagovailoa this season.

Detroit Lions suffers major blow with superstar second-round pick officially ruled out for entire season

And with Tagovailoa having struggled to stay on the field in recent seasons, Ewers may be dreaming of an even bigger role.

Following an exceptional 2023 season, the 27-year-old was rewarded with a bumper contract that included $93.71 million in guaranteed money.

Unfortunately Tagovailoa’s concussion issues scuppered his 2024 campaign, as he featured in just 11 games.

The Hawaiian is under contract through 2028.

NFL WEEK 1 SCHEDULE

(All times ET)

Thur 4 Sept
8.20 pm – Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles

Fri 5 Sept
8pm – Kansas City Chiefs at Los Angeles Chargers

Sun 7 Sept
1pm – Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Atlanta Falcons
1pm – Cincinnati Bengals at Cleveland Browns
1pm – Miami Dolphins at Indianapolis Colts
1pm – Las Vegas Raiders at New England Patriots
1pm – Arizona Cardinals at New Orleans Saints
1pm – Pittsburgh Steelers at New York Jets
1pm – New York Giants at Washington Commanders
1pm – Carolina Panthers at Jacksonville Jaguars
4.05 pm – Tennessee Titans at Denver Broncos
4.05 pm – San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks
4.25 pm – Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers
4.25 pm – Houston Texans at Los Angeles Rams
8.20 pm – Baltimore Ravens at Buffalo Bills

Mon 8 Sept
8.15 pm – Minnesota Vikings at Chicago Bears

But after the 2026 season, the Dolphins will possess more flexibility.

Tagovailoa is only guaranteed $3 million in 2027.

Should his health issues persist, Miami could choose to part company with the QB at minimal cost.

Team bosses will hope that it doesn’t come to this, and that Tagovailoa can continue as one of their franchise players.

But should he struggle, Miami will not be hamstrung by his deal.

The Dolphins will get their NFL regular season underway on September 7 with a trip to the Indianapolis Colts.

MIAMI Dolphins new-boy Quinn Ewers has impressed during training camp.
