Jaydon Blue is showing what he can do early at Cowboys’ training camp.<\/p>\n

The Dallas backfield is under heavy scrutiny with a mediocre group of running backs like Javonte Williams, Miles Sanders, and the rookie fifth-round pick.<\/p>\n

Fans have their fingers crossed that the former Longhorn can show the speed and athleticism he displayed at the University of Texas. A new highlight from training camp shows Blue can do it all out of the backfield.<\/p>\n

The way Blue contorts his body to adjust to the ball makes him look more like a receiver than a running back. It’s reminiscent of an old Cowboys running back, Tony Pollard, who used to excel on screens and wheel routes.<\/p>\n

It’s also a great sign for the back who has been maligned recently for his work ethic and started training camp on the second team.<\/a>\u00a0It’s not abnormal for a rookie to start at the bottom of the depth chart, but it’s a positive that he’s already showing his prowess early on.<\/p>\n

His final season at Texas, Blue had 42 receptions for 368 yards and six touchdowns. He’s proven he can be a pass-catching back at the college level and now the challenge is to transition that to the NFL.<\/p>\n

The Cowboys are a team in need of a reliable backfield option coming off a year of Ezekiel Elliot and Rico Dowdle.<\/p>\n

Could Blue be the next great Dallas running back? The one-handed catch was a good omen for his future.<\/p>\n
