Sure, it’s not entirely surprising that a quarterback wants to be the best.<\/p>\n

But for Denver Broncos’ second-year QB Bo Nix to come out and say it so bluntly is still notable.<\/p>\n

Nix was asked this week about his No. 64 ranking on the NFL’s top-100 player list, which is released every offseason.<\/p>\n

It’s a strong spot to debut in after a rookie season.<\/p>\n

Here’s what Nix had to say to reporters<\/a>:<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s obviously a cool honor because that\u2019s [what] your peers think, guys you play. At the same time, just the way I think, the way I am motivated, I want to continue to get higher. Not even for the ranking. It doesn\u2019t really matter what you\u2019re ranked, it\u2019s just an internal standard that I have that I want to be the best in the world. I know there are a lot of guys that I\u2019m competing for that with. I\u2019m not going to stop until I at least give it my best try.\u201d<\/p>\n

Broncos fans have to love to hear that.<\/p>\n

The Denver coaching staff and front office surely already knew that’s the mentality Nix had.<\/p>\n

It’s part of what allowed him to hit the ground running as a rookie, despite some doubts.<\/p>\n

He led the Broncos to the playoffs, and he’ll hope to do so again every year from here on out.<\/p>\n

And if he does that enough, and improves on already-impressive rookie numbers? Maybe someday he’ll have a case to be called the best.<\/p>\n
