It\u2019s been a run of bad news for the Denver Broncos linebackers over the last few days, losing Drew Sanders<\/a> for an extended period and now starter Alex Singleton is banged up.<\/p>\n

Singleton left Monday\u2019s training camp practice with a trainer holding his hand. According to Mike Klis<\/a>, the 31-year-old broke his thumb and The Denver Post reports<\/a> he\u2019ll need a procedure on Tuesday to fix the issue. Both reporters share that Singleton should be back at practice next week, but may be limited with a club on his hand for some time.<\/p>\n

Singleton led the Broncos in 2022 and 2023 in tackles, racking up 340 combined take downs those two seasons, where 12 went for a loss while he deflected nine passes. Last year was a solid start for Singleton, but he tore his ACL<\/a> in Denver\u2019s third game and proceeded to play through the pain. Once he came off the field, his season was over.<\/p>\n

Key backup Sanders is already likely out for the preseason, leaving Justin Strnad and Levelle Bailey as options for Vance Joseph at inside linebacker, where Denver has had some struggles in the past few years. The good news is Singleton should be ready to go for the preseason and be more than fine for the regular season. But the issues are worth watching given it\u2019s one of the Broncos\u2019 shallowest positions and they already needed to add Greenlaw this spring to beef up the room.<\/p>\n
