With training camp officially underway, many candidates have emerged, but one sleeper is quietly making his case for the job.

That sleeper? Undrafted rookie Payton Page.

The Clemson product has also had a fantastic start to training camp, frequently disrupting running plays in the backfield.

Brady Cook is keeping his bit of moxie going by hitting Gipson in stride on a “towards the sideline” type route. It was as “in stride” as could be.

Holy crap, this DTPayton Page is LIVING in the Jets’ backfield today. Who is he beating on all these plays? Leander Wiegand, G.…

— Robby Sabo (@RobbySabo) July 26, 2025

Payton Page. No. 69, absolutely blows up a rush attempt from Donovan Edwards. His penetration ruined the entire play, yet one of the Jets’ assistants was extremely animated in wanting Edwards to *finish* the rush. Love that stuff. Play gets blown up, offense sort of has it taken…

— Robby Sabo (@RobbySabo) July 26, 2025

Page, a former five-star recruit, spent his entire college career anchoring the defensive front at Clemson, where he developed into a reliable presence in the trenches.

The North Carolina native appeared in 53 games over four seasons with the Tigers, finishing with 60 total tackles, including eight tackles for loss, a half-sack, and two fumble recoveries. He emerged as a key contributor in 2024, registering 32 tackles (three for loss) and a pick-six across 14 games.

While Page did not rack up big sack numbers, his impact was felt in other ways. In 2024, he posted 24 quarterback pressures, tied for 35th among Power Four interior linemen.

Against the run, Page proved equally effective. His 76.9 run defense grade from PFF highlighted his ability to occupy blockers, fill gaps, and consistently disrupt plays at the line of scrimmage.

While the Jets brought in several options to compete for the starting role alongside Williams, few offer the upside and run-stuffing efficiency Page brings.

Listed at 6-foot-4 and 300 pounds, Page has the frame and functional strength to occupy blockers, disrupt rushing lanes, and take attention away from Williams, something New York desperately needs. His game isn’t built on flashy sack numbers, but rather on commanding space and forcing offenses to account for his size and leverage.

With a wide-open competition unfolding in training camp and little proven depth at defensive tackle, it’s not unrealistic to envision Page in the starting lineup by Week 1. Will he need to continue to flash in practice and the preseason to assume that role? Absolutely. But it is certainly not out of the question.

The spot next to Williams remains one of the most unsettled on the roster. So far, the undrafted rookie has made the most of his early reps.

If he can build on a strong first impression and continue stacking days in camp, Page has a legitimate path to becoming a key piece of the Jets’ front.

For a defense looking to free up their star pass rusher on the interior, Page could quietly become the team’s smartest UDFA signing this offseason.

Who will be lining up next to Quinnen Williams on the interior of the New York Jets’ defensive…

[2051
198,7,3228,226,1917,255,2321,2097,6,6531,3916,6736,3234,31834
0":"post-243687","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-new-york-jets","8":"tag-featured","9":"tag-football","10":"tag-free-content","11":"tag-jets","12":"tag-new-york","13":"tag-new-york-jets","14":"tag-newyork","15":"tag-newyorkjets","16":"tag-nfl","17":"tag-ny-jets-column","18":"tag-ny-jets-players","19":"tag-quinnen-williams","20":"tag-standard","21":"tag-syndication
["GET
