For a team that hasn\u2019t reached a conference championship game since 1995, the Dallas Cowboys sure get a lot of attention from ESPN.<\/p>\n
There\u2019s reason for that, of course. The Cowboys are America\u2019s Team after all. And the data shows, if you talk about the Cowboys, people will watch. But\u00a0Pardon the Interruption\u2018s Michael Wilbon doesn\u2019t necessarily subscribe to that philosophy. On Monday\u2019s episode of\u00a0PTI, Wilbon took aim at his own network, along with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.<\/p>\n

Nothing,\u201d Wilbon said about Jones\u2019 comments about Micah Parsons\u2019 ongoing contract negotiations. \u201cBecause the point of trying to decipher what he says and assign meaning to it is a damn waste of time, and I don\u2019t\u00a0 have that much. Jerry Jones likes to hear himself talk. He likes to talk. He likes to stand in a room with reporters and talk. I\u2019m sure if there\u2019s nobody in the room, he\u2019d stand there and talk.<\/p>\n It\u2019s fine. He\u2019s earned it. He\u2019s a cranky old man, he can do whatever he wants. But I\u2019m not paying any attention. So I assign no meaning to it. It\u2019s what he likes to do. He likes to be on stage. \u2026He\u2019s a showman, and he wants all your attention all the time and I\u2019m not going to give it to him. \u2026I don\u2019t give a DAMN what Jerry Jones says.\u201d<\/p>\n There\u2019s certainly a lot of truth to what Wilbon is saying. If we know one thing about Jerry Jones, it\u2019s that he likes to speak with the media.<\/p>\n But Wilbon took it a step further, criticizing ESPN for focusing so much time and energy on Jones and the Cowboys.<\/p>\n Wilbon continues by taking a shot at his own network:<\/p>\n \u201cAgain, I don\u2019t care about that because I don\u2019t care about the Cowboys, even though I know most of the programming on this network is devoted to Jerry Jones and the Cowboys.\u201d pic.twitter.com\/S9C05zrQKG<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 Awful Announcing (@awfulannouncing) July 28, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cThe Cowboys, they\u2019re not in the big action late. They\u2019re not relevant in January. So he could be hurting his team while he\u2019s doing it. Again, I don\u2019t care about that because I don\u2019t care about the Cowboys, even though I know most of the programming on this network is devoted to Jerry Jones and the Cowboys.\u201d<\/p>\n It\u2019s far from the first time Wilbon has taken aim at ESPN on its very own airwaves. Earlier this year, he criticized the network\u2019s coverage of Bronny James<\/a>. There\u2019s few people that can get away with these types of jabs on-air, but Wilbon certainly falls into that category.\u00a0PTI\u00a0is going on a quarter-century as one of ESPN\u2019s top-rated shows. Wilbon has earned the right to say what he wants.<\/p>\n \t
