Michael Bumpus<\/a> could see third-year running back Kenny McIntosh having a key role<\/a> in new Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak\u2019s system. Unfortunately, that won\u2019t happen this year.<\/p>\n

McIntosh is likely out for the year after tearing his ACL in training camp practice Saturday and being placed on injured reserve, and now the Hawks lose their best pass-catching option out of the backfield \u2013 something that is an important part of Kubiak\u2019s offense.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s where the focus was for Bumpus, a former NFL wide receiver and current Seahawks Radio Network host, on Monday\u2019s edition of Seattle Sports\u2019 Bump and Stacy.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s unfortunate for Kenny Mac. I\u2019m a big fan of his, I think that he was really coming into his own, especially late in the season last year. But it means opportunity,\u201d Bumpus said.<\/p>\n

Bumpus then broke down the usage of running backs for the New Orleans Saints last season when Kubiak was that team\u2019s OC.<\/p>\n

\u201c(Alvin) Kamara played 58% of the snaps, you had (Jamaal) Williams play 16%, and your fullback played 25%. There were two other running backs that played 9% of the snaps. That\u2019s 100 plays,\u201d Bumpus said. \u201cSo essentially somebody just got 100 plays, whether it be (George) Holani, whether it be (Zach) Charbonnet \u2013 who knows?\u201d<\/p>\n

Bumpus expects that following the loss of McIntosh, the Seahawks will be cooking up a move soon to add competition at the position.<\/p>\n

\u201cI assume that they\u2019ll probably bring in another running back because you gotta fill that void, especially going into preseason,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2026 It\u2019s unfortunate for one guy, but it\u2019s fortunate for the next guy. Now you just have to take advantage and make the best of it.\u201d<\/p>\n
