The New York Jets<\/a> announced Tuesday<\/a> that they have landed the kicker who led the NFL in field goal percentage in each of the last two seasons.<\/p>\n

That would be Nick Folk<\/a>, the veteran kicker the New England Patriots<\/a> traded away in 2023 in what\u2019s gone down as an ill-advised move. The move comes after Folk had tried out for the team on Monday.<\/p>\n

This marks Folk\u2019s second tenure with the Jets. He previously played in New York from 2010-2016.<\/p>\n

At age 40, Folk is one of the NFL\u2019s longest-tenured players. However, he\u2019s in the midst of a late-career renaissance that\u2019s seen his accuracy linger among the top of the league in recent years.<\/p>\n

After missing the entire 2018 season, Folk entered the Patriots\u2019 kicker competition in 2019, eventually winning the job. He quickly became a steady presence on field goals. In 2020, he went 26-of-28 on kicks, setting a new career-high field goal percentage of 92.9%.<\/p>\n

In 2023, the Patriots opted to trade the veteran kicker in favor of rookie kicker Chad Ryland, who lasted just one season in New England. New England dealt Folk to Tennessee, where he proceeded to lead the league in field goal percentage in each of his seasons there.<\/p>\n

Folk went a combined 50-of-52 on field goals in two seasons with the Titans.<\/p>\n

The Patriots, meanwhile, are still looking for their kicker of the future. Currently, New England has a kicker competition going between veteran Parker Romo and draft pick Andy Borregales.<\/p>\n
