Mosley, New York Jets linebacker Jamien Sherwood <a href=\"https:\/\/jetsxfactor.com\/2025\/04\/10\/jamien-sherwood-speaks-out-on-new-role-with-ny-jets\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">is ready to be the captain of New York\u2019s defense<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>His efforts have caught the eye of one of the team\u2019s star players.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the \u201cUp &amp; Adams Show\u201d, All-Pro defensive tackle Quinnen Williams praised Sherwood\u2019s leadership, even calling him a \u201cbaby\u201d Mosley.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI firmly believe the Mike linebacker is the leader of your defense, and to see [Sherwood] take that role and just do the things is like, \u2018Bro, you\u2019re like a baby C.J. in my eyes,&#8217;\u201d said Williams. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd Quincy Williams of course is an unbelievable leader on that defense, but Jamien Sherwood is taking that extra step, running the defense, learning, leaning on the defense, and just taking the bull by the horns to come out like, \u2018This is my defense, I\u2019m going to run this defense because I\u2019m the Mike.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fresh off a breakout campaign, linebacker Jamien Sherwood re-signed with the New York Jets this offseason on a three-year deal that could reach $45 million, including $30 million guaranteed.<\/p>\n<p>Sherwood, 25, was voted Curtis Martin Team MVP in 2024 after leading all NFL linebackers with 98 solo tackles. The former Auburn standout also added two sacks and three pass breakups, solidifying himself as a key piece in the heart of New York\u2019s defense.<\/p>\n<p>Sherwood\u2019s 73.8 overall grade from Pro Football Focus ranked 10th among 64 qualifying linebackers last season, underscoring his emergence as one of the league\u2019s most consistent second-level defenders.<\/p>\n<p>Now, with Mosley officially hanging up the cleats, Sherwood is no longer just a protege; he\u2019s the voice of the huddle.
