Shedeur Sanders did not put his best foot forward<\/a> when he was interviewing to be the Giants\u2019 quarterback during the pre-draft process.<\/p>\n

The former Colorado star reportedly failed to identify errors in his mock playbook install set as part of the Giants\u2019 pre-draft interview process, which is common practice in the NFL, according to Sports Illustrated\u2019s Albert Breer.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Giants one, they give players an install, and there are mistakes intentionally put in the install,\u201d Breer said via\u00a098.5 The Sports Hub<\/a>. \u201cHe didn\u2019t catch them and got called on it, and it didn\u2019t go well after that. \u2026 He was pissed that they did that to him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shedeur Sanders apparently didn\u2019t react well when questioned by the GGiants during his mock install. AP<\/p>\n

This was previously detailed by The Ringer\u2019s Todd McShay last week, but this is the first time that we\u2019ve heard that the Giants called out Sanders\u2019 behavior in the interview and that the quarterback prospect was \u201cpissed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although that could probably have been assumed, considering the Giants were looking at draft Shedeur with the third overall pick in last week\u2019s draft but wound up passing altogether and not even using a Day 3 draft selection on Sanders.<\/p>\n

Sanders was selected with the 144th pick by the Browns, who had already selected Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel a day earlier.<\/p>\n

\u201cShedeur didn\u2019t have a great interview with Brian Daboll in a private visit,\u201d McShay said last week. \u201cAn install package came in. Preparation wasn\u2019t there for it. [He] got called out on it. Didn\u2019t like that. Brian didn\u2019t appreciate him not liking it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Giants decided to go draft Penn State pass rusher Abdul Carter with the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, opting to draft a quarterback later in the first round as Ole Miss\u2019 Jaxson Dart went No. 25.<\/p>\n

Interestingly enough, the NFL Network\u2019s Ian Rapoport reported that the Giants were still interested in the Colorado product had Dart not been available at the end of the first round<\/p>\n

\u201cI do believe had Dart not been there for the Giants, trading up for Shedeur Sanders was very much a possibility.
