Jerod Mayo led the Patriots<\/a> to a win in Week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals<\/a>, but from there, things unraveled. New England finished the season with just a 4-13 record and was in the running for the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft<\/a> before a Week 18 win over the Buffalo Bills<\/a> dropped it to the No. 4 slot.<\/p>\n

The Patriots’ struggles led owner Robert Kraft to dismiss Mayo after just one season. The team then hired another former New England player with more coaching experience, Mike Vrabel, to take over the team.<\/p>\n

The Patriots made significant upgrades to their roster during the 2025 NFL offseason in the hopes of shaping themselves back into a contender. Quarterback Drake Maye<\/a> is coming off a quality rookie season, so New England may have its sights set on challenging for a wild-card berth as the No. 3 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft continues to grow.<\/p>\n

As always, the Patriots will face their AFC East divisional opponents twice during the 2025 season. Additionally, they will play all the AFC North and NFC South teams as part of the NFL’s rotating schedule.<\/p>\n

The Patriots final three opponents \u2013 the Giants, Raiders and Titans \u2013 were determined based on the Patriots’ fourth-place finish in their division.<\/p>\n

When is the 2025 NFL schedule release?<\/p>\n

The NFL is set to reveal its 2025 schedule in full on Wednesday, May 14.<\/p>\n

The NFL has turned the schedule release into something of a marquee offseason event. On schedule release day, the league announces the 18-week slate of matchups for all 32 teams in its entirety.<\/p>\n

This year’s schedule release will be held one day earlier than last year’s, which was on May 15.
