FOXBORO \u2014 Patriots quarterback Drake Maye appears to have a new favorite red-zone target in top free-agent addition Stefon Diggs.<\/p>\n
Diggs isn\u2019t the biggest target at 6-feet, 191 pounds, but the wide receiver\u2019s mentality gives Maye confidence to target the veteran wide receiver when things get tight near the end zone.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it\u2019s just mindset. It\u2019s attacking the football,\u201d Maye said Thursday. \u201cYou know, a guy like that, a guy of his stature who\u2019s caught a lot of touchdowns in this league and made a lot of big plays, he wants to go get the football. He tells me all the time, just, \u2018if the balls in the air, it\u2019s gonna be mine.\u2019 So I think that it\u2019s comforting hearing that from those guys. And I think that\u2019s kind of started to become something in the receiver room, that\u2019s the mindset. The ball\u2019s in the air, go get it. So I think it\u2019s, it\u2019s comfortable hearing that.\u201d<\/p>\n
Maye does have two big targets in tight ends Hunter Henry and Austin Hooper.
