\n QB Trey Lance<\/p>\n
With Justin Herbert not suiting up and Taylor Heinicke serving as the emergency quarterback, Lance came into the game knowing he would have ample opportunities.<\/p>\n
He made sure to make the most of them, too.<\/p>\n
“I was excited to be able to play and I was excited we got this fourth preseason game,” Lance said postgame. “If they told me I could play four full games then I’d be fired up about it.”<\/p>\n
Lance was on point and calm throughout the night, guiding the Bolts to points in five of his nine offensive drives he was under center.<\/p>\n
The 25-year-old finished the night completing 13 of his 20 attempts (65 percent) for 120 yards, two touchdowns and a 114.6 quarterback rating.<\/p>\n
“Usually you can predict. If somebody is playing good in practice, they play good in the games pretty much at all positions,” Harbaugh said about Lance after the game. “Quarterback is no different, until you see them in the game in that 11-on-11. I thought he had the same kind of composure and poise and in control.<\/p>\n
“There’s a presence that I’ve been seeing all camp, he’s had a heck of a camp, then he went out in the game and did that,” Harbaugh added. “Just the feeling of he needs game reps and he’s going to get them. It was a great start for him.”<\/p>\n
His first touchdown came following the first turnover on the opening kickoff when the Chargers went for it on fourth down.<\/p>\n
Rolling to his right, Lance put some nice touch over the outstretched arm of a Lions defender and dropped it off perfectly for Will Dissly in the end zone.<\/p>\n
It was one of his many impressive throws of the game as the quarterback put together quite the performance in his first action in the powder blue.<\/p>\n
Lance is looking forward to more game opportunities to build on his performance, something that has been limited so far in his young career.<\/p>\n
“I’m excited to watch the tape and learn a lot from it,” Lance said after the game. “Always some good and some bad, but just great to be out there. I feel good about it overall. No turnovers so obviously that’s a win.”<\/p>\n
