When Miami Dolphins training camp opened, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa didn\u2019t hold back on where things stood between him and star wide receiver Tyreek Hill.<\/p>\n
At the end of last season, Hill caused a stir on social media when he suggested he wanted to be traded from Miami \u2014 comments he later walked back. Tagovailoa responded on the first day of camp by acknowledging that the relationship with his WR1 still needed work.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re still continuing to do that, but it\u2019s not just with me, it\u2019s with a lot of the guys,\u201d Tagovailoa said, via Pro Football Talk<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m not the only one that heard that. You guys aren\u2019t the only people that heard that. A lot of people that follow football, that follow the Miami Dolphins, that follow Tyreek, that are fans of his, everyone has seen that. So when you say something like that, you don\u2019t just come back from that with, \u2018Hey, my bad.\u2019 You\u2019ve got to work that relationship up, you\u2019ve got to build everything up again. It\u2019s still a work in progress, not just for me but for everybody. But like I said, he\u2019s working on himself, he\u2019s working on the things he says he wants to get better with and do better on. So that\u2019s the first step to me so I commend him for doing that.\u201d<\/p>\n On Friday, Hill addressed Tagovailoa\u2019s comments<\/a> and made it clear he appreciated his quarterback\u2019s honesty.<\/p>\n \u201cI think Tua\u2019s comments were needed,\u201d Hill said. \u201cHe\u2019s obviously the leader on our team, so he sets the standard. I\u2019m just trying to be the best teammate, best version of myself I can be, man, every day.\u201d<\/p>\n Tagovailoa later emphasized that his comments weren\u2019t about calling out Hill, but about maintaining the team’s standard<\/a>.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t feel it\u2019s me talking bad about my teammate,\u201d Tagovailoa said on NFL Network. \u201cI\u2019m just trying to hold him accountable, because that\u2019s what we try to do with everyone on our team. And if this is what we say the standard is, that\u2019s what the standard is, and no one is exempt from it.\u201d<\/p>\n
