Geno Smith is out and Sam Darnold is in as the starter. Drew Lock returned as the backup and the Seahawks traded last year\u2019s backup Sam Howell. And Seattle picked intriguing rookie quarterback Jalen Milroe in the third round of the draft.<\/p>\n
With three different faces than a year ago, Seattle\u2019s training camp practices have offered some of the first looks at the unit.<\/p>\n
Former Seahawks and UW Huskies quarterback Brock Huard<\/a> was on hand at a recent practice. He shared what he saw from the new-look quarterback group during his Blue 88 segment Friday on Seattle Sports\u2019 Brock and Salk.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Huard began by talking about how Darnold stood out from the rest of the quarterbacks.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was pretty intriguing to me watching the quarterbacks for a big chunk, especially as they got warmed up and threw routes versus air, and kind of did all their things for a good half hour before you put your eye of judgment on them,\u201d Huard said. \u201cAnd what was pretty clear is that Sam \u2026 he plays this game fast. That ball is out of his hands.<\/p>\n \u201cSo when you watch him do all those drills\u00a0\u2013 which by the way, the ball didn\u2019t hit the ground \u2013 the ball is out of his hand so fast, so much anticipation.\u201d<\/p>\n Huard said Lock was a tick slower than Darnold, and Milroe was going through the typical rookie transition of trying to process it all.<\/p>\n \u201cI remember being in his spot. He\u2019s watching these guys not have one incompletion, especially Sam,\u201d Huard said of Milroe. \u201cAnd he\u2019s like, oh boy, I got to be (perfect). Let me hold the ball a little bit. Let me wait just a little bit. Let me throw this one maybe not in front of (the receiver), maybe not lead him, but put it right on him. Just kind of going through that normal rookie transition of (learning) the NFL is about inches. It\u2019s throwing it into these windows.
