As the Pittsburgh Steelers progress through their preseason<\/a> work, roster moves continue to unfold. However, the Steelers decided to move on from a rising playmaker in training camp. The team announced on Saturday that they released Montana Lemonious-Craig.<\/p>\n

The #Steelers<\/a> have released WR Montana Lemonious-Craig and OLB Jeremiah Moon from their injured reserve list with injury settlements.<\/p>\n

While Lemonious-Craig wasn\u2019t going to supplant the likes of DK Metcalf on the depth chart, he started making a case for himself. Throughout early training camp, he built a connection with rookie quarterback Will Howard.<\/p>\n

Last week, however, Lemonious-Craig suffered a lower-body injury in camp. This led to him being waived\/injured<\/a> along with EDGE Jeremiah Moon<\/a>. After clearing waivers, they were both placed on the injured reserve<\/a> list.<\/p>\n

This transaction ended their season in Pittsburgh. Instead, the Steelers elected to release Lemonious-Craig with an injury settlement. He is free to sign with another team in the future.<\/p>\n

Lemonious-Craig was originally signed in May<\/a> after a rookie tryout and faced an uphill battle. Despite a connection built with Howard, his injury derailed progress.<\/p>\n

He spent his final two collegiate seasons at Arizona after three years at Colorado. Lemonious-Craig recorded 79 receptions, 965 yards, and nine touchdowns over his five-season collegiate career.<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Steelers are six days away from their first preseason game in Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars. Coaches and fans get to see the work in progress as the regular season kick off in New York approaches.<\/p>\n
