two-time Super Bowl champion Tom Coughlin<\/a>.<\/p>\nCoughlin broke down the huddle following one of last week’s training camp practices, where he spoke about the importance of these summer sessions leading into the season.<\/p>\n
Daboll then joined Mike Garafolo and Judy Battista on NFL Network, where the head coach spoke about the impact Coughlin has had on both him and the entire team.<\/p>\n
“I have a lot of appreciation for Coach Coughlin,” Daboll told NFL Network. “He’s someone that I talk to often, lean on, get advice from. We had him out at practice, he was here again yesterday. He’s just a good resource. He’s done this for a long time. He comes from a great coaching tree, he’s been very successful as a head coach with this organization. He knows what it takes.<\/p>\n
“Again, it’s good to get a set of eyes here of someone that’s done it for a long time and lean on a little bit. But a great appreciation and respect for Coach Coughlin. I think our players feel the same way with him and a lot of the older guys that have come back and talked to them about what it means to be a New York Giant.”<\/p>\n
Coughlin, the Gants’ coach from 2004-15, won 102 regular-season games during his time with the organization, the second most in franchise history behind Steve Owen’s 151. Meanwhile, his eight postseason victories are tied with Bill Parcells for the most ever by a Giants coach.<\/p>\n
Of course, Coughlin’s signature achievements were the team’s two Super Bowl victories over the New England Patriots in Super Bowls XLII and XLVI. He also led the Giants to three NFC East titles and five playoff berths.<\/p>\n
