The Los Angeles Rams<\/a> have used several different avenues to add cornerback talent throughout Sean McVay\u2019s tenure, from trading for Jalen Ramsey to drafting Cobie Durant. They\u2019ve used free agency to address the secondary, too, signing Darious Williams and Ahkello Witherspoon, two current starters for Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

One player the Rams have tried to add in the past is former Cowboys<\/a> cornerback Jourdan Lewis. During a visit to Jacksonville Jaguars<\/a> training camp, general manager James Gladstone revealed to ESPN<\/a> that the Rams attempted to bring in Lewis \u201cseveral times over the years\u201d because of how much respect McVay has for the cornerback.<\/p>\n

Gladstone and the Jaguars signed Lewis this offseason and have already felt his impact in the secondary.<\/p>\n

The cornerback group looks like a potential strength, with or without Hunter. The\u00a0addition<\/a>\u00a0of former Cowboy\u00a0Jourdan Lewis<\/a>\u00a0in free agency was a big one for former Rams exec Gladstone, who said L.A. tried to get him several times over the years because Sean McVay always said he was especially tough to game-plan against. The Jags believe Lewis is already having an impact as a leader in that room.<\/p>\n

Gladstone used to work in the Rams\u2019 front office, so he knows players they\u2019ve liked throughout the years, as well as their draft tendencies. He even predicted the Rams would take Terrance Ferguson<\/a> with their top pick in the draft.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s unclear when the Rams tried to add Lewis, but he signed new deals with the Cowboys in 2021 and 2024 before joining the Jaguars this offseason. It\u2019s possible Los Angeles eyed Lewis the first two times he was a free agent, and potentially even this offseason before Jacksonville landed him.<\/p>\n

He inked a three-year, $30 million deal with the Jaguars this offseason after a strong season in 2024, continuing his play as one of the best slot defenders in the NFL.<\/p>\n
