Mike McDaniel isn’t like other NFL head coaches.<\/p>\n

The Miami Dolphins’ leader sprints off the field at halftime. He rocks some different outfits. And he also gives press conference answers you won’t hear anywhere else.<\/p>\n

That happened on Monday at Dolphins training camp.<\/p>\n

The initial exchange went like this after McDaniel was wished a good morning:<\/p>\n

“Good morning? False. A great morning,” McDaniel said.<\/p>\n

A reporter asked, “Why is it a great morning?”<\/p>\n

McDaniel replied: “Because we’re another day closer to death.”<\/p>\n

That’s one way to look at things.<\/p>\n

Certain religious groups may think of things that way. McDaniel may have also just been going for a laugh.<\/p>\n

Regardless of the reason, it’s not something you can picture many other coaches getting up to the podium and sharing with the media.<\/p>\n

The 42-year old McDaniel is entering his fourth season as the Dolphins’ head coach. He has a 28-23 regular season record with Miami, but he has lost both playoff games he’s been in.<\/p>\n

McDaniel played college football at Yale, where he graduated with a degree in history, so he’s certainly got a sharp mind.<\/p>\n

That shows up both in his offensive direction from the sideline, and in his answers to reporters.<\/p>\n

There are few like the 5-foot-9 McDaniel, and he probably likes it that way. It’ll be tough to ever top this answer, but he probably will give it a solid try.<\/p>\n
