Cam Ward<\/a> being named the Tennessee Titans<\/a> starting quarterback was no surprise when the team released its unofficial depth chart ahead of its Aug. 9 preseason game at Tampa Bay.<\/p>\n

Ward was the clear-cut choice after being picked No. 1 in the 2025 NFL Draft, and after last season’s starter, Will Levis<\/a>, opted to have season-ending shoulder surgery.<\/p>\n

Ward’s backup was a bit more of a mystery. The Titans<\/a> are going with Brandon Allen at No. 2, according to the chart.<\/p>\n

The Titans signed Allen as a free agent this past offseason after he spent two seasons in San Francisco. The former Arkansas Razorbacks<\/a> player has completed 166-of-293 passes for 1,810 yards and 11 touchdowns in nine NFL seasons.<\/p>\n

A few other takeaways:<\/p>\n

\u25cf Nine rookies are listed at No. 2 at their respective positions \u2014 notably Kevin Winston Jr.<\/a> He was a third-round draft pick out of Penn State<\/a> in April and has turned heads in preseason training camp.<\/p>\n

\u25cf Calvin Ridley, Tyler Lockett and Van Jefferson are listed as starting receivers.<\/p>\n

\u25cf Tony Pollard is listed as the starting running back.<\/p>\n

\u25cf What will the Titans look like defensively? The chart shows a 3-4 scheme, with five defensive backs and a nickel DB.<\/p>\n
