The Las Vegas Raiders and Philadelphia Eagles are gearing up for their first preseason game before the real games get underway in September. Both teams have been in training camp, going through practices for roughly a week. Apparently, that was enough time to quickly evaluate the rosters and determine that a trade was necessary.<\/p>\n

According to ESPN\u2019s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter<\/a>, the Raiders have agreed to trade cornerback Jakorian Bennett to the Eagles in exchange for defensive tackle Thomas Booker IV.<\/p>\n

From the Raiders\u2019 perspective, this trade makes a lot of sense, considering they just released Christian Wilkins from his contract following a dispute with the team. Adding Booker gives the Raiders another defensive tackle who can compete for snaps on Thomas Graham\u2019s defense, and it gives them a prospect with upside.<\/p>\n

Booker (6-foot-3, 301 pounds) was the 150th overall pick (fifth round) in the 2022 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans. Yet, he didn\u2019t earn a spot on the Texans\u2019 roster and was later cut, signed to the Eagles\u2019 practice squad in 2023 before appearing in all 17 regular season games in 2024 as Philadelphia went on to win a Super Bowl.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Bennett arrived as the 104th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Still just 24 years old, now he joins a crowded Eagles depth chart that has had a knack for identifying talent in the secondary.<\/p>\n

Both players are still young enough that a change of scenery could help them reach the next level in their development. Hopefully, this is a deal that works out well for all parties involved.<\/p>\n
