Dugger, who has anchored the secondary this summer alongside Jabrill Peppers, sees the joint practice as a valuable step in sharpening communication and execution. The Patriots defense has been aggressive throughout camp, and Dugger said the joint sessions won’t change their approach.<\/p>\n
“We’ve got to do our job the same,” he said. “Be tight, be on the same page. It doesn’t really change much. We just have to make sure we’re holding up and doing what we’re supposed to do.”<\/p>\n
Peppers, who has once again been one of the most active players in training camp for a fourth summer in a row, is eager to see how the defense stacks up against a mobile quarterback like Jayden Daniels.<\/p>\n
“You can’t tackle in practice, but just to see how many times he breaks contain, see what QB runs we’ll hit… things like that,” Peppers said. “We play against some good mobile quarterbacks this year, so definitely want to see how we track our eyes, track our guys, get off blocks.”<\/p>\n
Peppers’ aggressive playstyle is a natural fit with head coach Mike Vrabel and defensive coordinator Terrell Williams and the attacking scheme they’re trying to install. Wednesday will be the first glimpse of how it’s all coming together against another team.<\/p>\n
The session will feature competitive periods across all phases… red zone, third down, two-minute, and more, giving both teams a chance to simulate game-like situations without the unpredictability of a preseason game. For Vrabel and his staff, it’s a chance to evaluate players in a high-pressure environment while maintaining control over the tempo and structure.<\/p>\n
Peppers emphasized the importance of treating the joint practice like a game.<\/p>\n
“They’re evaluating this film as if it’s a game,” he said. “There’s a lot of great players on that side of the ball, and they want to see you go out and compete and win your matchups.”<\/p>\n
For fans, it’s a front-row seat to that competition. With drills happening simultaneously across both fields, there will be no shortage of action.<\/p>\n
