LATROBE, PA – After Tuesday\u2019s practice, which was dominated by the offense<\/a>, it was a similar performance on Wednesday for the Steelers\u2019 offensive unit. The group continues to mesh and find their identity as quarterback Aaron Rodgers seems to have potentially found a new favorite target. Below are my biggest takeaways from Wednesday\u2019s practice.<\/p>\n

Rodgers and Roman Wilson continue to grow their connection<\/p>\n

Before Wednesday\u2019s practice, Rodgers praised Wilson\u2019s talent and work ethic. Throughout the last several practices, he has been one of Rodgers\u2019 favorite receivers. The pair connected on several big passes. Wilson is beginning to step up and be a consistent option for the Steelers. With Calvin Austin sidelined again on Wednesday, the second-year wideout is making the most of his opportunities in camp. Wilson will be an exciting player to watch this preseason and has a real shot at establishing himself this season.<\/p>\n

Broderick Jones returns in full as the offensive line continues to mesh<\/p>\n

After being used sparingly with the first team yesterday, Jones returned to play the majority of his reps with the first team. The offense performed well as a unit, and the line played a key role in that. While it is hard to take too much away from training camp, Rodgers certainly was not running for his life or having to roll out of the pocket very much. Troy Fautanu and T.J. Watt continue to be an entertaining battle to watch. Fautanu has been giving Watt a run for his money throughout camp. He is a player who is crucial to the Steelers\u2019 success this season.<\/p>\n

Juan Thornhill grabs another interception to end practice<\/p>\n

Despite the offense stealing the show over the past few days, the defense has ended practice on a high note for consecutive days. For the second day in a row, Thornhill intercepted Rodgers in a two-minute drill situation. Rodgers made a throw over the middle intended for Freiermuth, but Thornhill was able to jump the route. The presumptive replacement for Minkah Fitzpatrick has had a solid last couple of days.<\/p>\n

As reported last night, rookie quarterback Will Howard suffered a broken bone in his hand<\/a>. The injury will not require surgery, but will keep Howard out for the entire preseason. Derrick Harmon did not practice with what Mike Tomlin downplayed as just bumps and bruises.
