The Cleveland Browns just signed a sixth quarterback to their roster after Dillon Gabriel sustained a hamstring strain, joining Kenny Pickett and Shedeur Sanders among the list of injured players in the position group.<\/p>\n

Cleveland reunited with Tyler Huntley, formerly a starter and a one-time Pro Bowler for the Baltimore Ravens, on Monday, August 4. Adam Schefter of ESPN reported the news via his social media accounts.<\/p>\n

“Sources: Browns are signing QB Tyler ‘Snoop’ Huntley, who spent part of last season with Cleveland,” Schefter wrote<\/a>. “With Kenny Pickett and Dillon Gabriel nursing hamstring injuries, and Shedeur Sanders having a sore shoulder, the Browns need another arm. Enter Huntley.”<\/p>\n

Huntley was a member of the Browns last spring\/summer and had a solid preseason with the team in 2024.<\/p>\n

However, he was ultimately beat out for a roster spot by backup QB Jameis Winston and third-string signal-caller Dorian Thompson-Robinson. Winston is now a member of the New York Giants, while the Browns traded Thompson-Robinson to the Philadelphia Eagles along with a fifth-round pick to acquire Pickett earlier in the offseason.<\/p>\n

It is unclear if the Browns intend merely to use Huntley during practice sessions, or if he might actually get a chance to compete for a roster spot — though the former is far more likely at the current juncture.<\/p>\n

Browns Release QB Order in 1st Unofficial Depth Chart of Summer<\/p>\n

Almost by default, though not in any way a real surprise, Cleveland named Joe Flacco as QB1 in its first unofficial depth chart<\/a> of the summer.<\/p>\n

Behind him in order came Pickett, Gabriel and Sanders. Meanwhile, Deshaun Watson remains part of the team with an injury designation as he continues to rehabilitate his twice-torn Achilles tendon.<\/p>\n

Most insiders around the league expect Cleveland will eventually trade at least one of the four quarterbacks who were competing for the QB1 job before Huntley’s arrival Monday, though which player that might be remains an open question.<\/p>\n
