Former Colorado<\/a> quarterback Shedeur Sanders<\/a> didn\u2019t hear his name called in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft<\/a> despite being widely regarded as one of the top prospects in the draft. Ahead of Rounds 2 and 3 on Friday, President Donald Trump tore into NFL<\/a> teams for passing on Sanders.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat is wrong with NFL owners, are they STUPID?\u201d Trump wrote<\/a> on Truth Social. \u201cDeion Sanders was a great college football player, and was even greater in the NFL. He\u2019s also a very good coach, streetwise and smart!<\/p>\n

\u201cTherefore, Shedeur, his quarterback son, has PHENOMENAL GENES, and is all set for Greatness. He should be \u2018picked\u2019 IMMEDIATELY by a team that wants to WIN. Good luck Shedeur, and say hello to your wonderful father!\u201d<\/p>\n

In the days leading up to the 2025 NFL Draft, Shedeur Sanders began to slide in many experts\u2019 mock drafts despite being projected to be a Top-3 pick earlier this spring. Evidently, Trump believes teams are making a serious mistake.<\/p>\n

In fairness, Sanders tallied 4,134 passing yards, 37 touchdowns and four rushing scores while completing 74% of his pass attempts in the 2024 campaign. For his efforts, he was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year and an AP Second-Team All-American.<\/p>\n

He owns the school\u2019s single-season records for passing yards, completions, attempts, touchdowns, completion percentage and quarterback rating. Moreover, he boasts the 14th-most passing yards in NCAA Division I history.<\/p>\n

Sanders didn\u2019t attend the draft\u2019s opening night in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Instead, he hosted a draft party with his close friends and family. After he went undrafted on Thursday, Sanders addressed the snub.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like with God, anything possible,\u201d Sanders said. \u201cI don\u2019t feel like this happened for no reason. All this is is fuel to the fire. Under no circumstance, we all know this shouldn\u2019t have happened, but we understand we\u2019re on to bigger and better things. Tomorrow\u2019s a day, and we\u2019re gonna be happy regardless.\u201d<\/p>\n

Numerous experts now have Sanders ranked as the top remaining prospect in the draft. Oddsmakers don\u2019t expect him to be on the board for long in Round 2.<\/p>\n

The Las Vegas Raiders are currently the -185 favorite to select Sanders, while the Browns shifted to +230 ahead of Round 2, according to DraftKings<\/a>. Four other teams are in the running, at least in terms of the best odds.
