That doesn\u2019t mean he holds any animosity towards his former club, though.<\/p>\n<p>The Pittsburgh product received just 29 touches throughout his short run with the Jets. While he competed in the team\u2019s backfield in 2024, he was beaten out by New York\u2019s rookie duo in South Dakota State product Isaiah Davis and Wisconsin\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/jetsxfactor.com\/tag\/braelon-allen\/\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Braelon Allen<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Now a member of the Green Bay Packers, Abanikanda recently provided a historic comparison for one of those young runners.<\/p>\n<p>Jets\u2019 Braelon Allen can be the next Derrick Henry<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to WFRV on Thursday, Abanikanda compared Allen\u2019s physicality and sheer talent to future Hall-of-Fame running back Derrick Henry.<\/p>\n<p>Yes. That Derrick Henry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBraelon gonna be a great running back,\u201d Abanikanda said. \u201cTo me, I don\u2019t know what people say; I say he can be the next Derrick Henry. That\u2019s what I say, and that\u2019s what I told him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">New <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Packers?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">#Packers<\/a> running back Israel Abanikanda had a chance to play with <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BraelonAllen?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">@BraelonAllen<\/a> during his time in New York with the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Jets?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">#Jets<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Abanikanda had some high praise for the Fond du Lac, WI native as Allen heads into year two in the NFL: &#8220;I say that he can be the next Derrick Henry.&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/7YM05SrfJI\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/7YM05SrfJI<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Kyle Malzhan (@KyleMalzhan) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KyleMalzhan\/status\/1953562814792253866?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" data-wpel-link=\"external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">August 7, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Allen recorded 92 carries during his rookie campaign for just over 300 yards. His paltry 3.6-yard-per-carry average was nothing to write home about, but it was more of a microcosm of how bad New York\u2019s rushing attack was in 2024. <\/p>\n<p>Things are different this offseason.<\/p>\n<p>Allen has looked faster and stronger this training camp and remains a key player for the Jets offense in 2025. As the organization shifts to a run-first philosophy, Allen is expected to be a big part of that.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Braelon Allen has a legit shot to be a monster in this league (provided he stays healthy and is surrounded by the right stuff).
