The Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins practiced together today at Halas Hall in advance of Sunday\u2019s preseason opener. Neither team plans to play their starters much, if at all, in the game, so today\u2019s controlled reps will be critical as both teams ready themselves for the regular season.<\/p>\n
Emotions were bound to be high with a new opponent in, but Bears\u2019 head coach Ben Johnson let his team know they needed to be on their best behavior. \u201cThere better not be any fights today, or they know the consequences,\u201d he said at his prepractice press conference.<\/p>\n
Consequences will be felt, as it wasn\u2019t a clean practice, but more on that later.<\/p>\n
Nickelback Kyler Gordon, who left the field yesterday, was present but not dressed; however, it sounds like it\u2019s just a precaution. Right tackle Darnell Wright, who also left the field yesterday with an injury, was suited up and practicing.<\/p>\n
The left tackle to begin the day was veteran Braxton Jones. With Kiran Amegadjie sidelined with a leg issue, this looks like a two-man race between Jones and rookie Ozzy Trapilo, although second-year UDFA Theo Benedet did get some work at left tackle with the ones on a red zone drill late in practice.<\/p>\n
Before firing off some highlights from those in attendance, keep in mind that the 11 on 11 action was taking place on two fields, and as one beat reporter mentioned, his head was \u201cspinning\u201d trying to watch everything. So the accuracy of some of the tweets you see today may not be batting 1.000.<\/p>\n
