After being inducted into their Hall of Fame and seeing his No. 12 jersey retired by the team, Tom Brady will receive yet another honor from the New England Patriots. On Friday, the organization will unveil a 12-foot statue \u2014 a nod to Brady\u2019s old jersey number \u2014 at Patriot Place Plaza.<\/p>\n
The festivities will kick off at 6 p.m. ET, ahead of the Patriots\u2019 preseason opener against the Washington Commanders. The ceremony will feature speeches from franchise owner Robert Kraft as well as the man of the hour himself, Tom Brady.<\/p>\n
The unveiling of the statue will also be broadcast live:<\/p>\n
Plans for the Brady statue were first announced during the longtime starting quarterback\u2019s induction into the Patriots Hall of Fame last June. During his speech at that particular event, Kraft told a sell-out crowd inside Gillette Stadium that the franchise would honor Brady in various ways \u2014 including by making him the team\u2019s first player to receive his own statue.<\/p>\n
The 48-year-old certainly earned it.<\/p>\n
A sixth-round draft pick by the Patriots in 2000, Brady began his NFL career as the fourth quarterback on the depth chart. However, he entered the starting lineup early in 2001 and never looked back. Over his 19 seasons as New England\u2019s QB1, he became instrumental in helping the team win six Super Bowls and establishing a two-decade dynasty.<\/p>\n
The undisputed greatest quarterback of all time and most decorated player the league has ever seen, Brady holds every meaningful passing record in team history. Retiring after a brief three-year stint in Tampa Bay, he will be eligible for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2028.
