{"id":273062,"date":"2025-08-09T01:25:10","date_gmt":"2025-08-09T01:25:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/273062\/"},"modified":"2025-08-09T01:25:10","modified_gmt":"2025-08-09T01:25:10","slug":"patriots-weapon-suffers-poorly-timed-injury-in-preseason-opener","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/273062\/","title":{"rendered":"Patriots Weapon Suffers Poorly-Timed Injury In Preseason Opener"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New England Patriots wide receiver Ja\u2019Lynn Polk seems to be snakebitten.<\/p>\n<p>Polk, who <a href=\"https:\/\/nesn.com\/2025\/07\/patriots-jalynn-polk-returns-injury-precaution-camp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">missed the beginning of training camp<\/a> while recovering from offseason shoulder surgery, was dealt a brutal blow as he seemingly injured the same shoulder on his first touch in Friday\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/nesn.com\/2025\/08\/watch-patriots-rookie-score-touchdown-on-first-nfl-touch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">preseason opener<\/a> against the Washington Commanders.<\/p>\n<p>Polk was looking to gain the edge on a carry in the red area, and <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/jmthrivept\/status\/1953981327008837757\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">was dragged down<\/a> directly on the previously-injured shoulder.<\/p>\n<p>ESPN\u2019s Mike Reiss reported the second-year wide receiver, with a towel over his head, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MikeReiss\/status\/1953982053088698513\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">was taken to the locker room<\/a> for further evaluation before halftime. The Patriots didn\u2019t issue an immediate update.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s as poorly-timed an injury possibly could be.
