{"id":274683,"date":"2025-08-09T16:22:13","date_gmt":"2025-08-09T16:22:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/274683\/"},"modified":"2025-08-09T16:22:13","modified_gmt":"2025-08-09T16:22:13","slug":"pickup-truck-drives-onto-new-jersey-football-field-during-practice-driver-arrested-police-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/274683\/","title":{"rendered":"Pickup truck drives onto New Jersey football field during practice; driver arrested, police say"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>                  Driver arrested on New Jersey football field after crashing into light pole during practice <\/p>\n<p>          <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/16b09b79a8689f5415faf0302e505e5c.jpg\"   class=\"temp__img\"\/><\/p>\n<p>                              <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/philadelphia\/video\/driver-arrested-on-new-jersey-football-field-after-crashing-into-light-pole-during-practice\/\" class=\"embed__headline-link\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><\/p>\n<p>          Driver arrested on New Jersey football field after crashing into light pole during practice<\/p>\n<p>          00:31<\/p>\n<p>                      <\/a><\/p>\n<p>A driver has been arrested after police say they took their pickup truck onto a South Jersey field where a football practice was taking place.<\/p>\n<p>Video shows the truck on the grass at the RiverWinds complex in West Deptford on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n<p>Sarah Howell, who filmed the video, says the truck came dangerously close to the kids practicing and the parents watching them from the sidelines.<\/p>\n<p>The truck then hit a light pole and appeared to come to a stop.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Then, West Deptford coaches sprang into action \u2014 getting the kids off the field while some disabled the truck, she told CBS News Philadelphia.<\/p>\n<p>West Deptford police say the driver is in custody and charged with endangering the welfare of children, criminal mischief and a disorderly persons offense for simple assault \u2013 along with several motor vehicle charges.<\/p>\n<p>Police believe the driver may have intended to harm people at the complex, and detectives are working with the Gloucester County Prosecutor&#8217;s Office on possibly adding more charges.<\/p>\n<p>The driver&#8217;s identity has not been released.<\/p>\n<p>After the incident, West Deptford will be stationing additional police officers at the RiverWinds Complex during events, the department said in a news release.<\/p>\n<p>      <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/team\/joe-brandt\/\" class=\"content-author__name\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Joe  Brandt<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"content-author__text\">Joe Brandt has been a digital content producer for CBS News Philadelphia since 2022.
