MINNEAPOLIS \u2013 The Texans are starting backup quarterback Davis Mills in a preseason road opener against the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday, according to league sources.<\/p>\n
The Texans opted to hold out starting quarterback C.J. Stroud in this first preseason game along with multiple other starters.<\/p>\n
Mills is a former third-round draft pick from Stanford and starter.<\/p>\n
In addition to Stroud, several other starters are not playing.<\/p>\n
That includes running back Nick Chubb (head injury, expected back soon), wide receivers Nico Collins and Christian Kirk, tight end Dalton Schultz, left tackle Cam Robinson (leg), left guard Laken Tomlinson, right guard-tackle Tytus Howard.<\/p>\n
On defense, ends Danielle Hunter, Will Anderson Jr., linebackers Azeez Al-Shaair and Henry To\u2019oTo\u2019o, cornerbacks Kamari Lassiter and Derek Stingley Jr., safeties C.J. Gardner-Johnson (knee injury, possibly back for Los Angeles Rams game) and Calen Bullock are not dressed out for the game.<\/p>\n
