San Francisco fans would like standout wide receiver Jauan Jennings back as soon as possible.<\/p>\n
Jennings led all 49ers<\/a> wide receivers in receiving yardage last season with 975 yards on 77 catches with six touchdown grabs. But, the 28-year-old has been sidelined throughout 49ers OTAs and training camp with an ongoing calf injury<\/a>.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n As he enters the final year of his current deal, Jennings has reportedly requested a new contract from the 49ers<\/a> this offseason.<\/p>\n That led reporters to ask 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan if Jennings’ absence throughout training camp has been because of his lingering calf injury or if there’s been any indication that the absence has been related to business.<\/p>\n “No, not at all. And this is actually why Jauan missed OTAs is because of his calf. It’s the same injury he had last year during training camp, which made him miss a couple weeks during training camp last year.<\/p>\n “We didn’t get him until the end of training camp last year and it’s the same thing on the MRI and it’s the same thing he’s going through. But, hopefully we’ll get him back sooner than later,” Shanahan said.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n 49ers general manager John Lynch said this past week that there’s still no timetable on a return for fellow receiver Brandon Aiyuk. But, Lynch did say that he doesn’t expect Aiyuk back for Week 1<\/a> of the 2025 season.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s just steps you have to continue to hit, and I\u2019ll continue to say that\u00a0Brandon is doing well in his rehab,\u201d Lynch said. \u201cDo we have an exact date right now? No. I don\u2019t think it will be Week 1, but hopefully, I\u2019m surprised. We\u2019ll see.<\/p>\n \u201cContinuing to try to watch him work his way through this rehab. But again, we want him fully healthy.
