Where did the Indianapolis Colts’<\/a> Daniel Jones and Anthony Richardson land in Mike Sando’s annual<\/a> quarterback tiers?<\/p>\n

To help cultivate these tiers, Sando spoke with 50 NFL coaches and executives to get their opinions on each player.<\/p>\n

Both Jones and Richardson would land in Tier 4 out of a possible five tiers. Jones came in at No. 30 and Richardson was at No. 32.<\/p>\n

Jones received nine Tier 3 votes, 31 Tier 4 votes, and 10 Tier 5 votes.<\/p>\n

“I get nervous with Jones,” an offensive coach told Sando. “I understand if you are not very good on offense and cannot protect, there will plays when you look bad, but there are too many times where he has a guy wide open and he throws it in the dirt or 10 feet over his head. I just don’t think he is naturally accurate, and I did not think he was in college.”<\/p>\n

Richardson, meanwhile, had two Tier 3 votes, 37 Tier 4 votes, and 11 Tier 5 votes. The only quarterbacks ranked lower than Richardson are Spencer Rattler and Kenny Pickett.<\/p>\n

“He’s a freaky athlete for his size, but he’s been hurt every year because of it,” a defensive coordinator told Sando. “Unless he is rearing back and throwing the ball as far as he can and somebody runs underneath it, he’s not accurate and can’t make any of those throws.”<\/p>\n

As head coach Shane Steichen has said, consistency will determine who the Colts<\/a>‘ Week 1 starting quarterback. That’s not only specific to completion rate, but the entire operation of the offense.<\/p>\n
