After one preseason game, and training camp, the Arizona Cardinals backup quarterback battle is really not much of a battle, but more of a formality with the only question is if the Cardinals can get into the regular season healthy.<\/p>\n
Jacoby Brissett got three series, his first series was a bit uneventful, going 0-2 and getting a three and out for the offense.<\/p>\n
Then the Arizona Cardinals defense made a big play, getting an interception, and Brissett and the offense came back on the field. Trey Benson carried the ball three times, gaining seven yards, and on 3-8, Drew Petzing dialed up a screen that Emari Demercado took to the house for Brissett\u2019s first touchdown of the game.<\/p>\n
So, 1-3 for 43 yards and a touchdown, not too shabby.<\/p>\n
Brissett\u2019s next drive was a little better, as he had completions of 11 yards, 13 yards, 13 yards, and a one yard pass for a touchdown to Xavier Weaver.<\/p>\n
Brissett through the ball over 10 yards once, and was 5-7 on passes under 10 yards, and had an average depth of target of six yards.<\/p>\n
It was a smart and efficient day for Brissett.<\/p>\n
Clayton Tune on the other hand took some chances, but he was 0-4 on passes over 10 yards, and threw an interception.<\/p>\n
He was a cool 5-5 for 47 yards on passes of less than 10 yards, but his average depth of target for the game was 10.3 yards.<\/p>\n
It is an interesting juxtaposition on the two in their battle. Jacoby basically knows how to take advantage of what the defense is going to give him, allowing the playmakers on offense to do their thing.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Tune is making throws that maybe you make to try and show off a little?<\/p>\n
