Journeyman defensive tackle Kyle Peko is back with an NFL franchise, signing with the New England Patriots on Monday. This marks his seventh NFL stop in his eight-year career.<\/p>\n
Among those stops was a one-year stint with the Detroit Lions last season.<\/p>\n
The Lions signed Peko last May, released him after training camp, then re-signed him to the practice squad. Not long after his promotion to the active roster, Peko suffered a torn pectoral muscle during a Week 6 victory over the Dallas Cowboys \u2014 the same game in which star pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson sustained a broken fibula and tibia. The injury landed Peko on injured reserve following season-ending surgery.<\/p>\n
In five games with the Lions, he recorded two tackles and two quarterback hits.<\/p>\n
Peko, 32, entered the league in 2016 as an undrafted free agent out of Oregon State, signing with the Denver Broncos, with whom he had two separate stints.<\/p>\n
The 6-foot-1, 305-pound defender has also played for the Buffalo Bills, Indianapolis Colts, Tennessee Titans — whom he also had two stints with — and Las Vegas Raiders.<\/p>\n
Peko\u2019s signing with the Patriots reunites him with head coach Mike Vrabel, whom he played for in Tennessee during the 2023 season.<\/p>\n
