South Carolina<\/a> coach Shane Beamer<\/a> vented his frustrations with the NCAA regarding a waiver for transfer running back Rahsul Faison<\/a>. Faison joined the Gamecocks this offseason after two seasons at Utah State<\/a>, one season of junior college and one season at Marshall<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Although the running back graduated high school in 2019, changes to NCAA rules that don\u2019t count JUCO seasons against eligibility should grant him another year. Yet with spring practice having come and gone, South Carolina has still not got official word from the NCAA. <\/p>\n

Beamer says this is despite the fact the Gamecocks have given the NCAA everything it has asked for for its stamp of approval. He seemed to be at his wits\u2019 end when discussing the situation Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s getting frustrating just to be completely frank,\u201d Beamer said<\/a>. \u201cI understand that the NCAA has a lot on their plate, but the fact that they\u2019ve had everything they needed from us since January and we don\u2019t have an answer is, frankly, disappointing. We\u2019ve given them everything they needed. \u2026We\u2019ve been in contact with other schools that he was at to get stuff from them to give them what they needed. <\/p>\n

\u201cAgain, I know they have a lot on their plate, but the fact that we\u2019re now in the middle of May and we still don\u2019t have an answer and we just went through a portal window where we didn\u2019t add a running back but we don\u2019t have an answer on whether or not we\u2019re gonna have three scholarship running backs on our team or four, five, whatever it is. That\u2019s tough when you talk about planning for 2025.\u201d<\/p>\n

Faison earned second team All-Mountain West honors this past season after finishing with 1,109 yards rushing and eight touchdowns. It was the first time in his career that he surpassed the 1,000-yard mark and he ended his career at Utah State with 1,845 yards and 13 touchdowns combined in two seasons. <\/p>\n

South Carolina loses last year\u2019s leading rusher Raheim Sanders<\/a> to the NFL and Faison is expected to take over as the lead back. The Gamecocks also have Oscar Adaway<\/a>, Jawarn Howell<\/a>, Matthew Fuller<\/a>, and Bradley Cooper on scholarship.<\/p>\n

The continued delay with getting Faison granted eligible has become frustrating, but there is perhaps hope on the horizon. Less than two weeks ago, courts in New Jersey granted a temporary injunction in favor of Rutgers defensive back Jett Elad<\/a> to play in 2025.
