Here are some highlights from what they said:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Wyman thinks new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak\u2019s wide-zone blocking scheme will put the offensive line in a much better position for success.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think the scheme itself just creates angles for blockers,\u201d Wyman said. \u201cIt\u2019s offensive-line friendly. You saw a couple of times where they kind of had a little bit of a stretch play going and (running back) George Holani just bounced it outside. So they\u2019re using that part of the field much better and they\u2019re getting defenders going sideways. \u2026 I really liked what I saw. But they\u2019re gonna have to execute it of course.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u2022 Stelton didn\u2019t see anything during camp that changed his high expectations for the defense in Year 2 under Mike Macdonald.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you look at them in the second half of (last) season, this was a top-five defense in the league,\u201d Stelton said. \u201cSo I think the expectation is that\u2019s who they are to start the season. And to this point, just seeing what we\u2019ve seen out here and the level of comfort the players seem to have with it, nothing\u2019s happened to make me think any differently. I really still believe this is gonna be a top-five defense (from) Week 1 on.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u2022 Wyman continues to be impressed by rookie safety Nick Emmanwori, whose elite athleticism and unique versatility made him one of the more intriguing players in the entire 2025 NFL Draft.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have not seen a rookie moment with him,\u201d Wyman said. \u201cEither out at practice or in the game or the mock game, he just makes plays. He never looks like he is off-track in any way, and he\u2019s just a very mature player. I can\u2019t wait to see what he can do.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u2022 Stelton said new quarterback Sam Darnold remains \u201cprobably the biggest question mark on this team.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve seen moments (at practice) where he\u2019s looked really good,\u201d Stelton said. \u201cI\u2019ve seen other moments where not awesome. I don\u2019t know how much stock to put into it. I\u2019m still very curious as to what he looks like when it\u2019s gametime.\u201d<\/p>\n
