Following their rookie minicamp, the Kansas City Chiefs<\/a> made a surprising move in releasing former Green Bay Packers<\/a> cornerback Robert Rochell. The 130th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Rochell was picked up by the Packers during the 2023 regular season and suited up for 20 games for the team over the last two years. Known best as a special-teams ace, rather than as a defender, Rochell played 233 special-teams snaps for Green Bay compared to just one defensive rep.<\/p>\n

The Chiefs added just one cornerback via the 2025 NFL Draft, Cal\u2019s Nohl Williams, and signed three others, USC\u2019s Jacobe Covington, Florida State<\/a>\u2019s Kevin Knowles and Southern Arkansas\u2019 Melvin Smith Jr., via undrafted free agency. <\/p>\n

Don\u2019t be shocked if Rochell is back on the Packers\u2019 radar now that he\u2019s being made available again. Green Bay released receiver\/returner Tutu Griffin on Monday, which cleared a single roster spot on the team\u2019s 91-man offseason roster. Depending on whether or not Jaire Alexander returns to the Packers\u2019 roster<\/a>, the team only has three or four cornerbacks<\/a> who have experience making a 53-man roster going into the 2025 season.
