The San Francisco 49ers are doing everything they can to preserve their roster and make it to Week 1 without any more injuries. Star player Nick Bosa has been experiencing soreness, so he sat out of Thursday\u2019s session. Ben Bartch, the expected starter at left guard, also sat out of practice after sustaining an elbow injury on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Rookies Mykel Williams and Upton Stout worked off to the side, as did Renardo Green — who has yet to practice this camp — and Yetur Gross-Matos, who is still on the PUP list.<\/p>\n
The scare at practice came when reporters on hand tweeted that rookie CJ West went down after his knee buckled during 1-on-1s. West was apparently able to limp off the field. The reason why we see several veterans resting during these joint practices is to avoid injuries. The defensive line\u2019s depth is already extremely thin. The last thing the Niners can afford is another player banged up, especially someone whom they\u2019re invested in like West.<\/p>\n
After practice, head coach Kyle Shanahan said that West hyperextended his knee. Shanahan said the team believes it\u2019s a similar injury to Mykel\u2019s from last week, and that West\u2019s ACL checked out after early tests. He added at the end, \u201cHopefully, he\u2019ll be lucky.\u201d<\/p>\n

Some fans believe that Bosa\u2019s injury is more serious than the team is letting on. \u201cSoreness\u201d is vague. Of course, the team will be safe with one of their best players. But should we be concerned that Bosa remains out?
