In the third quarter of the Detroit Lions\u2019 preseason bout with the Miami Dolphins, rookie defensive end Ahmed Hassanein left the field after suffering what appeared to be an upper body injury. Hassanein was involved in a violent collision during a defensive play, and immediately clutched his upper body. After trainers attended to Hassanein for a minute, they escorted him off the field, supporting his arm as they walked. Hassanein went directly into the locker room.<\/p>\n
The team does not offer official updates during the game, but after the contest coach Dan Campbell noted that Hassanein could be down for a little.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe is, out of a the (injuries) we had today, he might be the one that could be a minute. It could be a little bit,\u201d Campbell said. \u201cWe\u2019ll know more in the morning. For everybody else, I think we got out okay.\u201d<\/p>\n
Hassanein was the Lions\u2019 sixth-round pick this year. And while he was considered a developmental player who is still relatively new to football, he was having a strong training camp.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe is a sponge, he wants to know, he really does and he tries to take what he\u2019s being told,\u201d Campbell said a couple weeks into training camp. \u201cHe tries to think about it and take it to the field and grow. And he really is improving. He\u2019s improving.\u201d<\/p>\n
In his place, Isaac Ukwu, Nate Lynn, and Mitchell Agude all saw time in the second half of the Dolphins games.<\/p>\n
