Green Bay Packers<\/a> rookie receiver Savion Williams wore a red no-contact uniform during the offseason workout program while recovering from labrum surgery and dealt with a concussion early in training camp, and now the former TCU star is missing more time with a soft-tissue injury.<\/p>\n

According to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic<\/a>, Williams missed Thursday’s joint practice and Saturday’s preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts due to a hamstring injury.<\/p>\n

Williams, a third-round pick in 2025, dropped out of practice on Tuesday with the injury. He has missed multiple practices and both preseason games so far during training camp, and it’s unclear if he’ll return next week, which features the final joint practice and preseason game of the summer.<\/p>\n

Williams is among several injured receivers, although coach Matt LaFleur believes Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks will be back before Week 1 and Romeo Doubs’ back injury isn’t serious.<\/p>\n

The Packers’ rookie class is dealing with injuries on multiple fronts. Williams has been in and out of action, fourth-round pick Barryn Sorrell has a new knee injury, fifth-round pick Collin Oliver hasn’t practiced in training camp because of a hamstring injury and seventh-round pick John Williams hasn’t practiced after needing a surgery on his back during the offseason.<\/p>\n

In Williams and running back MarShawn Lloyd, the Packers have two exciting, young rookie weapons currently waiting for hamstring injuries to heal on the sideline.<\/p>\n

Williams has a tremendous blend of size and athleticism, and TCU used him in multiple ways, including as a Wildcat quarterback. He could have gadget value as a rookie, but even offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich admitted it will be difficult to get him into the mix considering all the time he’s missed this summer.<\/p>\n

“It’s definitely going to make it tougher. Hopefully we can get him back sometime soon,” Stenavich said Sunday. “I’m very enoucraging with what I saw that he will be able to help us, for sure.
