On August 18, NFL Insider Jordan Schultz wrote on his X that sources informed him the Commanders are shopping running back Brian Robinson Jr. to teams around the NFL. According to Schultz, the former third-round pick out of Alabama is entering the final year of his contract. Reacting to the news, one X user instantly commented, \u201cWhy? Am I missing something? I just don\u2019t get this at all.\u201dAnother declared, \u201cCommanders RB core about to be so trash lmao.\u201d A third fan wondered, \u201cThey don\u2019t want to pay him im thinking.\u201dThe NFL Insider shared a follow-up tweet,\u201c#Commanders RB Brian Robinson Jr. has been highly productive through his first three seasons\u2014rushing for 2,300+ yards and scoring 20 TDs, all while coming back from being shot before his rookie year. According to Spotrac, the running back signed a four-year rookie contract worth $5.04 million with the Washington Commanders in 2022. He is the final year of this deal. Brian Robinson Jr. would carry a $3.62 million cap hit and a dead cap value of $283,008 for his 2025 season before hitting the free agency in 2026. He is scheduled to earn a base salary of $3.4 million in the 2025 NFL season. If they release him, Washington would have a free cap space of $3.335 million. <\/p>\n

Washington Commanders look at Brian Robinson Jr. as way to land a draft pick<\/p>\n

On August 17, Bryan Manning of the Commanders Wire of USA Today wrote\u2013 \u201cIt\u2019s doubtful the Commanders would cut Robinson next week. They like him, but probably view him as a way to land a draft pick next year. Washington is already without two draft picks in 2025 due to the trade for left tackle Laremy Tunsil.\u201d<\/p>\n
