The Carolina Panthers<\/a> might have two of their starters back for the beginning of the 2025 campaign.<\/p>\n

After a fiery finish<\/a> to training camp on Tuesday, head coach Dave Canales was asked about the statuses of tight end Tommy Tremble and left guard Damien Lewis. He started with Tremble, who is on track to suit for up Week 1 of the regular season.<\/p>\n

“Tommy is doin’ great,” Canales replied. “He’s running full speed. He’s looking towards just trying to get some more physical contact, and get that adaptation part before we can fully clear him. He won’t be playing this week. But he’s on track. He’s had no setbacks, and so we’re excited to get Tommy back on the field doing something real soon.”<\/p>\n

Tremble, who has yet to fully participate in practice this summer, underwent back surgery<\/a> in May. He was placed<\/a> on the active\/physically unable to perform list last month.<\/p>\n

Canales then offered up a pretty encouraging update on Lewis as well.<\/p>\n

“Damien’s getting stronger every day,” he added. “He’s getting his stability and strength back. I was told he could play this week if he had to. We’re not going to do that because he’s still getting stronger. We wanna just capitalize on that part as we go into the season. I wouldn’t say 100 percent he’s playing for Week 1. This is a progression just like anything else, so we’ll have to go just week to week still.”<\/p>\n

Lewis has been dealing with a shoulder strain<\/a>. He did not play in either of the team’s first two preseason outings.<\/p>\n

Fourth-year veteran Cade Mays, who recently lost out<\/a> in the center competition to Austin Corbett, started in place of Lewis in this past Saturday’s exhibition against the Houston Texans.<\/p>\n
