{"id":303878,"date":"2025-08-20T18:22:14","date_gmt":"2025-08-20T18:22:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/303878\/"},"modified":"2025-08-20T18:22:14","modified_gmt":"2025-08-20T18:22:14","slug":"3-more-colts-players-back-from-injury-and-return-to-practice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/303878\/","title":{"rendered":"3 more Colts players back from injury and return to practice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One day after Kenny Moore, Alec Pierce, and Bernhard Raimann <a href=\"https:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/article\/3-key-colts-players-return-191346830.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:returned to the practice field;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">returned to the practice field<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/coltswire.usatoday.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Indianapolis Colts;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Indianapolis Colts<\/a> got more good news on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/author\/james-boyd\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:The Athletic&#039;s James Boyd;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">The Athletic&#8217;s James Boyd<\/a>, back on the practice field were Kwity Paye (groin), Jaylon Jones (hamstring), and JuJu Brents (hamstring).<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Jones and Brents have each missed most of training camp up to this point, while Paye has missed time since the first preseason game.<\/p>\n<p>We do not know to what extent these three players are practicing on Wednesday, whether it&#8217;s just individual work or if they are participating in team drills. Typically, after missed time, a ramp-up period is required.<\/p>\n<p>The return of Jones and Brents provides a needed boost to the cornerback position, which has had to navigate a number of injuries this offseason.<\/p>\n<p>However, how exactly each of these players fits into the <a href=\"https:\/\/sportsdata.usatoday.com\/football\/nfl\/teams\/indianapolis-colts\/338\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Colts;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Colts<\/a>&#8216; new-look defense under Lou Anarumo remains to be seen.<\/p>\n<p>Advertisement<\/p>\n<p>The starting spot opposite of Charvarius Ward has been up for grabs all summer and still seems to be, but Jones and Brents have missed out on a lot of reps in what is a new scheme.<\/p>\n<p>So, although Jones started last season and Brents is a fairly recent early-round pick by the Colts, it&#8217;s no longer assumed that either will hold that starting spot, especially with the addition of Xavien Howard, who has already taken his share of first-team reps.<\/p>\n<p>Now, that doesn&#8217;t mean Jones and Brents will be backups for the entire season.
