The Tennessee Titans<\/a> may enter the market for a veteran starting quarterback this offseason. That\u2019ll be the case if Mike Borgonzi and Chad Brinker decide against drafting Cam Ward<\/a> or Shedeur Sanders<\/a> with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.<\/p>\n

The class of free agent quarterbacks leaves plenty to be desired. Potential names include Kirk Cousins and Sam Darnold. Aaron Rodgers<\/a> is expected to join that group soon.<\/p>\n

One potentially underrated name is Jameis Winston. A veteran gunslinger, Winston threw for 2,121 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions while playing on an expiring contract for the Cleveland Browns<\/a> throughout the 2024 campaign. He\u2019s not expected back in Cleveland next season.<\/p>\n

Winston was recently on-site in New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX. It was a brilliant decision, because his infectious personality made for outstanding television. In one clip that\u2019s especially notable for Titans fans, Winston expressed interest in playing in Nashville next season while speaking with world-famous comedian Bert Kreischer.<\/p>\n

Head coach Brian Callahan will be opposed to running it back with Will Levis and Mason Rudolph (a free agent) after bad quarterback play largely led to the Titans\u2019 miserable 3-14 campaign in 2024. With Callahan entering his second season on the hot seat, he\u2019ll expect Borgonzi and Brinker to provide him with an upgrade at quarterback, either via the draft, or free agency. Could Winston be that player?<\/p>\n

Callahan has experience with gunslinger quarterbacks. He previously coached Derek Carr. Callahan also has experience with pocket passers a la Winston, potentially making him an ideal fit to run the offense.<\/p>\n

The big caveat is Winston\u2019s decision making. He\u2019s a turnover machine who loves testing tight throwing windows, sometimes to his detriment. Winston\u2019s play-style may give Callahan pause after Levis and Rudolph combined to lead the league in turnovers.<\/p>\n

If the Titans go the veteran QB route, Winston\u2019s name could appear on a shortlist next to Rodgers, Cousins, Darnold, and Justin Fields. Elsewhere, Matthew Stafford, Jake Browning, and Carr could potentially be available via trade. Callahan possesses professional ties to those three quarterbacks.<\/p>\n
