Skyy Moore is headed to The Golden State. <\/p>\n
The Kansas City Chiefs traded the two-time Super Bowl-winning wide receiver to the San Francisco 49ers on Wednesday evening, ending a three-year tenure with the Chiefs. Kansas City is sending Moore and a 2027 seventh-round pick in exchange for a 2027 sixth-round pick, according to a <\/p>\n
The former Western Michigan star struggled to find a consistent role in Kansas City\u2019s offense after being drafted 54th overall in the 2022 NFL Draft. In his first two seasons in the league, Moore caught 43 passes for 494 yards with one touchdown, while returning 14 punts and starting a total of 11 games. <\/p>\n
But in 2024, he appeared in six games and caught zero passes on three targets while battling through a core muscle injury that eventually landed him on injured reserve. <\/p>\n
The 5-foot-10, 195-pound pass catcher did help the Chiefs win the Super Bowl in 2023, however. Moore returned a punt 29 yards to setup the Chiefs\u2019 game-winning field goal in the AFC Championship Game against the Bengals, followed by the game-winning touchdown pass in the Super Bowl against the Eagles \u2013\u2013 a 4-yard grab and his first NFL score. <\/p>\n
Before his time in Kansas City, Moore starred at Western Michigan, where he came a two-time first-team All-Mid-American Conference honoree. The Pennsylvania native had his best season in 2021, where he hauled in 95 passes for 1,292 yards and 10 touchdowns. <\/p>\n
He\u2019d finish his WMU career with 2,482 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns on 171 receptions. <\/p>\n
Moore, who turns 25 next month, appeared in both of Kansas City\u2019s preseason games this year and returned a punt 88 yards for a score in the fourth quarter of Friday\u2019s preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks. <\/p>\n
But Kansas City, who added rookie Jalen Royals in the fourth-round of this year\u2019s NFL Draft, felt now was the time to move on from Moore, especially with a receiver room that included Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy and veterans Hollywood Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster. <\/p>\n

Four of the 49ers top six wide receivers \u2013\u2013 Brandon Aiyuk, Demarcus Robinson, Jordan Watkins and Jacob Cowing \u2013\u2013 might not be available for the team\u2019s Week 1 opener in Seattle, while Juan Jennings\u2019 status remains up in the air as he battles with a calf injury. <\/p>\n
Moore gives the 49ers depth and some veteran experience at a depleted position. <\/p>\n
