Washington Commanders<\/a> head coach Dan Quinn offered the latest update on wide receiver Terry McLaurin as the team returned to practice on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Apparently, McLaurin is cleared to run, but was not going to get reps with the team on Wednesday. \u201cThe return to play part is that’s the good news, so we’re out of the rehab phase with Terry. His ankle’s good, he’s healthy, so now it’s a return to play,” expressed Quinn.<\/p>\n

So now McLaurin will be doing side work in running, preparing himself to join the team in practice soon. My guess is next week, following this last preseason finale against the Ravens. Quinn went on to say that other guys coming off injuries had been in the same process, just further along.<\/p>\n

“So almost all the guys are at some phase along that way. You’re going to see [LB Jordan] Magee at practice, you’re going to see [DE Javontae Jean-] Baptiste, they just have kind of gone through that process as well where they’re out of the rehab portion of their returning to play, and then it’s back into like the football simulated work.”<\/p>\n

Quinn implied that McLaurin’s absence from Monday’s game was due to his rehab that day.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt’s really custom to how we want to do things by player. Some big rehab here, some not on those particular days. So, that’s how we decide to go through all the guys. If I would show you a list of who’s rehabbing, who’s doing what on what day and how they go, they have that mapped out pretty good.\u201d<\/p>\n

If so, we are actually glad to hear that was the case. They could have chosen to communicate that prior to the game, as ESPN’s decision to show Cincinnati’s Trey Hendrickson on their sideline was certainly not a good look for Terry.<\/p>\n
