After an oblique injury<\/a> kept him out of the Cleveland Browns’ second preseason game, Shedeur Sanders is set to take the field this weekend. Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters<\/a> on Thursday that, barring any injury setbacks, Sanders will be the team’s third-string quarterback as Cleveland takes on the Los Angeles Rams for the preseason finale.<\/p>\n

Flacco, who was named as Cleveland’s starting quarterback earlier this week<\/a>, will start against the Rams. Rookie Dillon Gabriel will be QB2, followed by Sanders.<\/p>\n

Stefanski previously said<\/a> they wanted to treat the final preseason game as a dress rehearsal for the regular season. As a result, Flacco and the starters will get 20-25 plays on Saturday before turning to the backups.<\/p>\n

Sanders started in the Browns’ first preseason game<\/a> against the Carolina Panthers, putting up a solid showing in the 30-10 win. The rookie played for the first half and part of the third quarter, throwing for 138 yards and two touchdowns.<\/p>\n

Gabriel got the start the next week, throwing 13-for-18 for 143 yards \u2014 and a pick 6 \u2014 in Cleveland’s 22-13 win over the Philadelphia Eagles.<\/p>\n

In addition to Flacco, Gabriel and Sanders, the Browns have three other quarterbacks under contract. Kenny Pickett, once a favorite for the starting job, has been sidelined with a hamstring injury<\/a>. Tyler Huntley, a veteran backup who was signed<\/a> earlier this month, has had significant preseason snaps so far, but is destined to wind up near the end of the depth chart.
