As the NFL preseason winds down and the regular season approaches, predictions and projections for the 2025 campaign are starting to roll in. This year, most models have the Packers as an excellent bet to make the postseason, whether as a Wild Card or as winners of the NFC North.<\/p>\n
According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Packers\u2019 odds to make the playoffs this season are -128, suggesting a probability of 56%. Those are the seventh-best odds in the NFC, however, as the Eagles, 49ers, Lions, Buccaneers, Rams, and Commanders all come in with shorter odds (in that order).<\/p>\n
However, those odds may be underestimating the Packers\u2019 chances, at least according to a few analytic models. Austin Mock of The Athletic has the Packers projected to make the playoffs 66.3% of the time, which is the fifth-best mark in the conference, while they are tied for fourth in Mock\u2019s wins projection. Their 9.8 average wins mark also ranks tied for 4th with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, though Tampa\u2019s better playoff odds are due to them playing in an easier division.<\/p>\n
Pamela Maldonado: The schedule is easier this year compared to last, especially considering the caliber of quarterbacks the Packers had to face in 2024. Green Bay\u2019s defense took a step forward under Jeff Hafley, especially in the red zone. On the offensive side, Jordan Love<\/a> looked like the real deal following the Packers\u2019 Week 10 bye, completing 65% of his passes and averaging 8.5 yards per attempt while facing a host of tough pass defenses. The Packers will play three road games on short weeks, but after going 5-5 in one-score games and finishing with 11 wins, another trip to the playoffs seems like a fair bet when considering the talent they have and what appears to be an easier path.<\/p>\n The schedule piece is an odd bit of analysis, as the Packers have an extremely difficult schedule by most accounts. Perhaps the change from Sam Darnold to J.J. McCarthy in Minnesota makes that quarterback slate easier, but the Packers still have to deal with the likes of Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson in games against AFC opponents, while still facing the Lions twice and the Eagles once.<\/p>\n Regardless, much of the Packers\u2019 road to the playoffs will come down to how they perform in their brutal second-half stretch, which is filled with divisional rivalry games. Five of the team\u2019s six divisional games come in the last seven weeks of the season, and their only two other contests are against teams that made the AFC playoffs last year (Denver and Baltimore).
